“A new state program to fund freight-related transportation projects is getting some interest from local officials.
The Illinois Department of Transportation recently announced a $250 million, five-year competitive grant program using federal funds designed to implement the goals of the Illinois State Freight Plan to improve safety, boost efficiency and grow the economy.
About 50 people representing local governments, agencies and other entities from Carbondale to Peoria recently attended one of three presentations on the new program. A second program was held Wednesday in Schaumburg, and a third is planned for March 5 in Springfield…”
