The ICL Group LTD already operates in South City and announced Tuesday plans to expand into north St. Louis with a state-of-the-art, more than $500 million facility on Carrie Avenue along the North Riverfront. The St. Louis Development Corporation’s Planned Industrial Expansion Authority approved a tax abatement for ICL.
“We commend ICL on its commitment to expanding in the City of St. Louis,” said Neal Richardson, President & CEO of St. Louis Development Corporation (SLDC). “In addition to the 150 new full-time, well-paying manufacturing, maintenance and support jobs that will be created by ICL’s half-billion dollar investment in North City, construction of the new facility will bring more than 1,000 construction jobs over a two-year period, having a positive impact on St. Louis area contractors, diverse/minority suppliers and the entire region.”
The company specializes in producing lithium components for electric vehicle batteries. The expansion will create 150 new advanced manufacturing jobs with average salaries nearing $90,000 a year. This is part of a push to bring equitable growth to underserved neighborhoods in the City of St. Louis.
