“Many ideas have been looked at in recent years for what to do about Interstate 270 in north St. Louis County, one of the most heavily traveled stretches in the area.
Much of the corridor was built in the 1960s. Problems now include aging infrastructure such as deteriorating pavement and bridges, as well as congestion and inability to handle increased freight traffic.
Average daily traffic ranges from 150,000 vehicles around Lindbergh Boulevard to 55,000 closer to the Mississippi River, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation…”
